Troubleshooting Email & Web Site Connection

How to Contact Us
This document covers common issues and problems with sending/receiving email or accessing your website. Please follow this checklist and if you still have problems contact us:

• I can't receive email (but I can send)

If your website emails are being forwarded to another main account (such as Yahoo, MSN, Juno, Earthlink), send an email directly to that address to be sure it is receiving properly. If you are not receiving email with this address, contact that provider to resolve the issue.

If you can receive to your forwarded address directly (such as Yahoo, MSN, Juno, Earthlink), then contact Dive In Designs to ensure your mail is attempting to forward to your main account.

If you have an account set up on our server, then check to see if your mail is on the server inbox by checking your webmail account. (See webmail configuration to access webmail) If your mail is showing up in webmail on the server, but not downloading to your machine when you click send and receive mail, check the following:

  • Ensure email you are looking for is not going into a spam folder
  • Check to make sure your password is correct in your account set up
  • Check to make sure your account settings are correct, including your incoming server. Your incoming server should be yourdomain.com (or .org, .net, etc)
  • Restart your email program
  • Restart your computer
Contact Dive In Designs if:
  • No email is going into your webmail inbox.
  • You still cannot retrieve mail after trying the above steps
  • You are getting an error message when trying to retrieve mail (please write down what that error message says to help us further trouble shoot the problem)



• I can't send email (but I can receive)

If your website email is being forwarded to a main account (such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Earthlink, etc) and you cannot send mail through that program, ensure that your Internet connection is working properly. If that is not the problem, contact your main account provider.

If your website email is set up on our server and you can receive, but not send email, check to make sure your outgoing mail settings are correct. You have two choices for your outgoing mail:
  1. You can use your Internet Service Provider's outgoing mail settings (for example, Comcast is smtp.comcast.net, though they are not always in this format)
  2. Or, you can use yourdomainname.com (or .org, .net, etc) If you select this format, you will have to ensure the "my server requires authentication" setting is selected. To figure out how to set this correctly, see our email configuration page and look at the instructions for your email program.
If your outgoing email server settings are correct:
  • Check to make sure there are no 'hung up' emails in your outbox. Try deleting messages in the outbox and try and send a fresh message.
  • Shut down and restart your email program
  • Shut down and restart your computer
Contact Dive In Designs if
  • You are still unable to send mail after trying these steps.
  • If you are receiving an error message, please write it down so we can help you troubleshoot the problem further.



• I can't send or receive

If your website email is being forwarded to a main account (such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Earthlink, etc), check to make sure your Internet connection is working properly. If that is not the problem, follow the troubleshooting or contact steps for that provider.

If your website email is set up on our server try the following:
  • Make sure your Internet connection is working properly (go to google.com and try a search)
  • Check your webmail and see if you can send and receive from there (send yourself a message to test it) See webmail instructions
  • If webmail works, but mail still does not download to your computer email program, try quitting your email program and restarting and/or restart your computer.
  • If you are getting an error message when trying to send/receive, type that into google and see if you can source the problem.
Contact Dive In Designs if:
None of the steps fixes the problem. Be sure to write down any error messages you get so we can help you further trouble shoot the problem.



• I am being asked for my password when I try to retrieve mail

If your website email is set up on our server, try the following:
Type in your password at the prompt
If that works, go to your account settings and ensure 'remember password (or similiarly named setting) is checked
Retype your password in your account and resave it
Quit and restart your email program
Quit and restart your computer
See if you can login to webmail with your password

Contact Dive In Designs if:
None of the steps fixes the problem
You need to have your password reset because you can't remember it



• I Want to Set Up a New Email Account

1. Request a New Email Account with Dive In Designs
If you haven't already, please request a new email be set up with Dive In Designs. You can call us at 541-868-1254 or contact us online. We will need:
  • The full email address
  • A username if different than what is before the @ sign in the email address
  • An 8 digit password consisting of some numbers, some letters and no real words (like puppy or Eugene) More information on selecting a secure password
2. Configure Your Email Account On Your Machine
Review our email configuration pages to learn how to set up the new account on your machine.



• I cannot connect to my website or site manager

Check your Internet connection by going to google.com and searching for something. If your Internet connection is working properly, but you cannot click through your site or site manager, please contact us.
